Rotarians Donating Dictionaries to Third Grades

Rotarians are all smiles after packaging dictionaries for distribution

Derby-Shelton Rotarians will be busy putting smiles on the faces of all third grades in Derby and Shelton schools over the next couple of weeks as they visit the schools to present each third grader with their own paperback dictionary. Kim Ryan-Caro has been coordinating the successful program for years and she reports that this year dictionaries will be distributed to Booth Hill, Elizabeth Shelton, Long Hill, Mohegan, Sunnyside and Holy Trinity schools in Shelton. In Derby St. Mary/St. Michael School, Bradley and Irving Schools will be receiving the books. In total, there will be 492 dictionaries given out this year.

Members of the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club visit the schools to make the presentations to the students. We would like to thank Doub LoMonte, Lucy Andrade, Rosemary Allen, Jeff Forte, Tom Wilson, Ernie Luise, Jack Walsh, Linda Homes-Hannon and Drew Scott for handling the presentations this year. The Club has been distributing dictionaries since 2003.
