The Kentucky Derby Watch Party held on Saturday, May 6 at Brownson Country Club was a mashing success. resident-Elect Kim Ryan-Caro who will become president in July and her committee put together the social event of the year to match the goings on in Louisville. High style was very much in vogue particularly among the women whose hats were more than a match for anything found at Churchill Downs this year. Joe Shapiro’s Stardust Jazz Trio added to the ambience for the evening as did the food and the traditional mint juleps. Prizes were given for Best Hat and Best Bow Tie, and there was a silent auction as well as a 50/50 raffle. The event was sold out and left the guests looking forward to another great event in 2024.
Proceeds from the event will go directly towards the Derby-Shelton Rotary Scholarship Foundation, which grants scholarships annually to seniors from Shelton High School and Derby High School.
