Derby-Shelton Rotary Club’s first Shred Day was a major success for the club. With traditional in-person fundraisers on hold, the Club turned to a safer outdoor event with face masks, gloves, and social distancing in effect. A steady stream of cars, SUVs, and trucks quickly cycled through a very efficient system in the parking lot at St. Lawrence Parish in Shelton. Thanks to the additional manpower assistance of Scouts from Troop 33 in Shelton, customers never had to leave their cars as they simply drove up, popped their trunks and the Scouts and Rotary Club members removed boxes and bags that quickly disintegrated in the specialized shredder truck from vendor Shred-It. Over 6,000 pounds of paper were shredded on the day. The Club is especially thankful to St. Larence for allowing us to use their lot and to Rich Plavnicvky who coordinated all of the logistics on the day. Rich is also the owner of Rich’s Home Services (203 650-2610) in case you have a need.
The event was made possible by the fantastic support of our sponsors:
All proceeds from the event will help fund the community programs supported by Rotary.
