The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club proudly hosted the Norman K. Parsells Fellowship Luncheon for the first time ever on April 7. Julie Blakeman, President of the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club served as MC for the event. The luncheon had not been held in 2000 and 2001 due to COVID and this also marked the first time in the history of the luncheon that Derby-Shelton had played host. Nine Rotary Clubs participated in the luncheon which honors the memory of Mr. Parsells who was a distinguished member of the Fairfield Rotary Club who passed away in 1986. Recognizing that Parsells life epitomized a basic tenet of Rotary, Service Above Self, they started to honor Rotarians who fit the model. Eventually the idea was expanded to include the nine clubs participating today. Derby-Shelton started participating in 2009 and here is a story about this year’s Derby-Shelton winner John Daniell and a list of former Derby-Shelton winners.
