Every year Derby-Shelton Rotarians return to the classroom as part of the Read Across America. Their role is a particularly fun one as they get to read a variety of popular children’s books to the students. Read Across America is a national program of the National Education Association held in March every year which promotes reading, particularly for children and young adults. In the case of the Derby-Shelton Rotary that means that the Club purchases age-appropriate books and sends them into classrooms in Derby in Shelton with Rotarians who spend time reading the books to the students. At the completion of their time in the classroom, the Rotarians donate the books to the schools to help build up their libraries. This program is coordinated by Kim Ryan Caro.
