The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club is once again offering free five-gallon buckets of a sand-and-salt mixture to help local seniors and disabled residents stay safe through the winter months. Deliveries will take place December 4–8, 2025 to qualifying residents in Derby and Shelton.
Since the program began in 2008, hundreds of residents have benefited from this community service initiative. Kim Ryan Caro, Derby-Shelton Rotary Community Service Chair and Past President, has heard countless stories of gratitude from recipients over the years.
“We’ve received so many wonderful thank-you notes,” said Caro. “Some people told us they were afraid to get their mail before receiving their Rotary sand and salt bucket. Others said it made a huge difference in helping them stay independent. Everyone truly appreciates this kindness.”
