The Derby/Shelton Rotary Club is proud to be part of the
beautiful new
Derby Greenway Plaza and Hall of Fame located at the Division Street
entrance to the very popular pedestrian walkway. The Greenway was formally
opened in June of 2006, and the Plaza and Hall of Fame were dedicated on
September 1, 2007. The Plaza features a brick plaza that contains not only
the Derby Hall of Fame, but also commemorative bricks purchased by the
public. The Plaza is complemented by landscaping the includes benches and
trees. The Derby/Shelton Rotary Club is the bench on the left in the picture
above. It is one of 13 benches along the 1.7 mile trail.

The
Rotary Club also purchased an engraved brick which is located directly in
front of the fountain. Derby/Shelton Rotary Club members Jack Walsh is
Chairman of the Derby Greenway Committee which planned the plaza which
includes an historic century old fountain known as the
National Humane Alliance Fountain. Given to the city in 1906, the
fountain had stood in disrepair on the city's colonial town green until
being restored as the center piece for this gateway entrance to the
Greenway.
