The Derby/Shelton Rotary Club held a gala installation dinner and awards reception on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Brownson Countyr Club in Shelton. Charles O. Priddle, President of the Club for 2004-2005 served as master of ceremonies as Pat Tarasovic and the slate of officers for 2005-2006 were sworn in and numerous awards were presented. The Derby/Shelton Rotary Club was especially pleased to be joined by Pamela Akins, District Governor for 2004-2005, and Alan Hurst, who will serve as District Governor for 2005-2006. Both presented awards during the course of the evening. Derby/Shelton's own Ernestine Luise was recently elected to be District Governor for 2006-2007 and the Club recognized her for her achievement as well.
Rotary Centennial Service Award for Professional Excellence Presented
Pamela Akins presented Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO Bill Purcell with a special award A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Rotary Centennial Service Award for Professional Excellence. The award was established in celebration of Rotary's centennial year and local clubs were allowed to nominate candidates who embodied the following characteristics:
