The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club is composed of caring people who want to give back to their community. They are big-hearted, broad-minded men and women of integrity, energy, and action. The Club normally meets weekly on Thursdays at 12:15 at the Brownson Country Club in Shelton, CT. Check the calendar<\/a> for a full schedule.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Privileges of Membership<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Opportunity to Serve:<\/em><\/strong> Rotarians provide services at the local and international levels that address peace and conflict prevention\/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development.<\/p>\n

Professional Networking:<\/em><\/strong> A founding principle of Rotary was to provide a forum for professional and business leaders – Rotary offers the opportunity to meet and work with like\u00ad minded individuals.<\/p>\n

Personal Growth and Development:<\/em><\/strong> Membership in Rotary ensures continuing personal and professional development and opportunities to enhance leadership skills.<\/p>\n

Friendship:<\/em><\/strong> Fellowship was a primary reason Rotary was started in 1905 and helps to build a sense of community as well as enduring individual friendships.<\/p>\n

Cultural Diversity:<\/em><\/strong> Rotary International is an association of local clubs throughout the world and membership is open to every ethnic group, political persuasion, cultural background and religion.<\/p>\n

Good Citizenship:<\/em><\/strong> Rotary’s expansive network of clubs and programs provides extensive opportunities for service and cross-cultural interchange.<\/p>\n

World Understanding:<\/em><\/strong> Rotary members gain an understanding of humanitarian issues through service projects and programs of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.<\/p>\n

Entertainment:<\/em><\/strong> We are fun!<\/p>\n

Ethical Environment:<\/em><\/strong> Rotarians practice The Four-Way Test, encouraging high ethical standards in one’s profession and respect for all worthy vocations.<\/p>\n

Statements of dues are mailed to your residence. Payment is your responsibility, not your Employer’s. Please submit your payment by check to the club treasurer by the due date.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The expected contribution to The Rotary Foundation <\/em>is $100 annually (see above).<\/p>\n

Each member is required to purchase or sell tickets to the annual fundraiser. Additionally, each member is encouraged to secure donations of goods or services for the auction.<\/p>\n

Participation Considerations<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n

Major fundraisers require the support of all members and all are asked <\/strong>to help sell tickets for major events.<\/p>\n

Participation in club events by members is essential to a strong club, therefore, you are expected to support and attend the various activities of the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club.<\/p>\n

Attendance Requirements – Rotary International<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

There is no strict attendance requirement, but we hope and expect each member will attend at least half of our regular meetings.<\/p>\n

Attendance Options<\/h4>\n

If you are unable to attend a meeting, you are always welcome to attend a regular meeting of another Rotary club, Rotaract, Interact, Community Corp or Rotary Fellowship. Attendance and participation at RI, Zone, District and Club scheduled conventions, assemblies, trainings, meetings and\/or events fulfill requirements. It is your responsibility to advise the Club Secretary of such make-ups.<\/p>\n

As a Rotarian, you may attend any Rotary meeting in the world, according to their local customs. Visit www.rotary.org<\/a> for locations and time.<\/p>\n

Rotary International encourages engagement of members and recognizes that we all serve in different ways. Be involved and make a difference.<\/p>\n
