Dictionaries distributed to all third graders

2008 marks the 250th birthday of the Noah Webster, and Derby/Shelton Rotary Club gave third grade students in both Derby and Shelton an opportunity to remember his most important work - the dictionary as they distributed 633 brand new dictionaries to every third grade student in the two towns. Rotarians visited each of the schools and presented students with their own personal copies of the books and to stressed the importance of the books. Noah Webster, who is buried in Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven would be quite proud!

The local Rotary Club has been doing the project for a number of years now in an effort to promote literacy and encourage student performance. This year Marge Domorod coordinated the project, and the following schools were visited by the Rotarians listed below.
